Last updated: [DATE OF PUBLICATION]

In short

  • No account needed. We never ask for your name, email address, contacts, photos or location.
  • Ads are optional. Every ad is one you choose to watch for a reward.
  • We use Google services for ads, analytics, crash reports and game balance. Each one is listed below.
  • In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics and personalised ads are used only if you agree.

Who we are

Gridlock Terminal is a puzzle game for Android published by Layover Games Lab AS (organisation number [ORGANISATION NUMBER], [POSTAL ADDRESS]). We are the data controller for the game. Contact: info@layovergameslab.com.

What is stored on your phone

To save your game, the following is kept in the game's private storage on your phone:

None of it is sent to us. To delete it, use Settings → Reset progress in the game, clearing the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstalling the game.

Android backup

If you have Android backup turned on, Android may include the game's saved data in your device backup to your Google account, so it can be restored on a new phone. Google handles that backup under your Google account settings and Google's Privacy Policy. We cannot access it, and you can turn backup off in your phone's settings.

What leaves your phone, and why

ServiceWhat it receivesWhy
Google AdMob (ads)Your device's advertising ID, your IP address (which can be used to estimate your approximate location, never your precise location), device model and operating system, and how you interact with ads.To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud. Ads appear only when you tap a button to watch one for a reward. Personalised ads in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are shown only with your consent. Elsewhere you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings.
Google Firebase AnalyticsA random app-instance ID, game events (for example which level was started, won or lost, and which booster was used), device model, operating system, and your approximate country, worked out from your IP address. To find levels that are too hard or too easy and to improve the game. All advertising features of analytics are switched off, so this data is never used for ads. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics stores data only if you agree.
Google Firebase CrashlyticsCrash reports: what the app was doing when it crashed, device model, operating system and a random installation ID.To find and fix crashes.
Google Firebase Remote ConfigA random installation ID.To adjust game balance, such as coin rewards, without an app update.
Google Play BillingHandled entirely by Google Play. We receive only a confirmation of what was bought, never your payment details. To deliver in-app purchases.
Google Play Games (optional)If you use Play Games, a copy of your progress is saved to your Google account as a saved game.So your progress follows you to a new phone.

These services are provided by Google, which processes the data under its own terms: Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from apps that use its services. Google may process this data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Google protects those transfers with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Your consent choices

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent form is shown before any ad is requested and before analytics stores data. You can change your answer at any time in the game under Settings → Ad privacy choices.

Notifications

The game can send one reminder in the evening when a new daily puzzle is waiting and you haven't played it yet. It is off until you turn it on, and the reminder is decided entirely on your phone. You can turn it off in the game's settings or in Android's notification settings.

How long data is kept

Permissions

Google Play

When you download the game, Google Play processes information such as your Google account and device under Google's Privacy Policy. Google gives us aggregated statistics through the Play Console, such as install numbers, crash rates and device models. These statistics do not identify you.

If you email us

If you write to us at info@layovergameslab.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to answer you and to fix the problem you report, and we keep it only as long as we need it for that. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering the people who play our games.

Legal basis (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

Answering emails is based on our legitimate interest, as described above.

What we never do

Children

Gridlock Terminal is meant for a general audience aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, for example by emailing us, contact us at info@layovergameslab.com and we will delete it.

Your rights

Under data protection law (the GDPR in Norway and the rest of the EEA, and similar laws elsewhere, such as in the UK and California) you have the right to access, correct and delete personal data about you, to restrict or object to its use, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect what was done before. Most of the data described above is held by Google, linked to random IDs rather than to your name, so many requests are easiest to make through your Google account. You can always write to us at info@layovergameslab.com and we will help. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In Norway that is Datatilsynet.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will publish the new version on this page with a new date. Significant changes will also be announced in Gridlock Terminal.
