In short
- No accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
- Your progress stays on your phone.
- The only connection the game makes is to Google Play, when you buy or restore the Full Route.
Who we are
Out of Service is a retro arcade game for Android published by Layover Games Lab AS (organisation number [ORGANISATION NUMBER], [POSTAL ADDRESS]). We are the data controller for the game. Contact: info@layovergameslab.com.
What is stored on your phone
To save your game, the following is kept in the game's private storage on your phone:
- scores, and the names you type into the high-score tables
- stars, unlocked rounds, feats, the fleet book and your settings
- whether you own the Full Route
None of it is sent to us. To delete it, use Settings → Reset progress in the game, clearing the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstalling the game.
Android backup
If you have Android backup turned on, Android may include the game's saved data in your device backup to your Google account, so it can be restored on a new phone. Google handles that backup under your Google account settings and Google's Privacy Policy. We cannot access it, and you can turn backup off in your phone's settings.
In-app purchase
The optional Full Route unlock is sold through Google Play, and Google handles the payment entirely. We never see your name, email address or payment details. The game only receives a confirmation from Google Play that the purchase was made, and uses it to unlock what you bought. To do this the game includes Google's Play Billing Library, which talks to the Google Play Store app on your phone and may send Google diagnostic information about purchases under Google's own policy.
Sharing
The Daily Route's Share button opens Android's share menu with a short line of text: your result and the route code. It goes only where you choose to send it.
Permissions
- Vibration, for short haptic feedback that you can turn off in the game's settings.
- Internet and network state. These are added by Google's Play Billing Library and are used only to make and check purchases through Google Play. The game itself sends nothing.
Google Play
When you download the game, Google Play processes information such as your Google account and device under Google's Privacy Policy. Google gives us aggregated statistics through the Play Console, such as install numbers, crash rates and device models. These statistics do not identify you.
If you email us
If you write to us at info@layovergameslab.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to answer you and to fix the problem you report, and we keep it only as long as we need it for that. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering the people who play our games.
Legal basis (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
Processing a purchase is necessary to deliver what you bought (performance of a contract).
Answering emails is based on our legitimate interest, as described above.
What we never do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not ask for your name, email address, contacts, precise location, photos or files.
- We run no servers for the game, and the game has no chat and no user-generated content.
Children
Out of Service is meant for a general audience aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, for example by emailing us, contact us at info@layovergameslab.com and we will delete it.
Your rights
Under data protection law (the GDPR in Norway and the rest of the EEA) you have the right to access, correct and delete personal data about you, to restrict or object to its use, and to data portability. Because the game sends us nothing, the only personal data we could hold about you is an email you have sent us. Ask us about it at any time at info@layovergameslab.com. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In Norway that is Datatilsynet.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will publish the new version on this page with a new date. Significant changes will also be announced in Out of Service. If a future version adds anything that sends data from your phone, such as ads, analytics, purchases or online features, we will update this policy before that version is released.
